Darryl the Dog Turns Eight

May 8, 2015

There is an onslaught of dog pictures up ahead– don’t say I didn’t warn you. There are actually words if you make it to the end of the endless pictures, I promise.

Darryl turned eight yesterday (or that’s what we’re going with because we don’t know his actual birthday), so today I’m sharing eight things he’s taught me over the years.

1) Take joy in the little things

Sunshine, getting to come up on the bed, people coming home, the pool cleaner, car rides. They all make him happy.

2) Family is a top priority

Not to sound full of it, but we are kind’ve his whole world.

3) Sometimes, you just gotta trust the people in charge

We had to carry him to the car against his will when we first adopted him. I think it’s safe to say he’s glad we did now.

4) Forget about the bad, focus on the good

This dog lives in the moment, and lives for the good ones.

5) Forgive, forgive, and forgive again

We can do no wrong in this dog’s eyes.

6) When you can’t beat the heat, lay on the tile floor

With a fur coat fit for the Alaskan Frontier, this dog knows a thing or two about cooling off. Sometimes, all you can do is take it easy and start fresh tomorrow.

7) Being as soft as a bunny rabbit isn’t all bad

Who doesn’t want to pet a coat as soft as a minky blanket? Being pleasant and approachable is a great way to make friends.

8) Unconditional Love

His love knows no bounds. Dogs are such a reflection of Christ in this way.
